Milton Perry will preach his Fust
sermon today (Sunday) at 3 p.m.
The services will be held at his
home church in New Willard at
Beulah Baptist Church where Rev.
E.D. Thornton is the pastor.
Bro. Milton Perry is a member of
Abundant Love Missionary Baptist
Church in Houston, Rev. Richard
McKcnscy is the pastor. Rev.
McKcnscy will be in charge of the
services. Bro. Perry is inviting all
his former classmates to be with
him on this glorious occasion.
Bro. Perry is the son of Mrs.
Dorothy Richards and is married to
the former Ethel Mac Jessie, she is
the daughter of'Ms. LcVcrda Jessie
of New williard. They are the
parents of two lovely daughters,
Tonisah, who is attending college
at Dillion University in New Or-
leans and LaTisha. The Perrys arc
graduates of Livingston High
School. His grandparents arc Mr.
and Mrs. Herman Vance, Sr., of
New Willard.
I received a card from Ms. Alma
Toliver Allen last week,' she is up
for re-election to the state board of
Education. Lets give her our sup-
port in every way we can. Alma is
a graduate of Dunbar High School,
was selected as outstanding
graduate in 1992 of Livingston
ISD. A very capable person that
really cares about our children. If

birthday to Laura Hall and Betty
Wills they had the same day, Mon-
day October 16. Happy birthday to
Belly Henderson, her day was
Wednesday, October 18, and her
son Lawcrcncc had a birthday last
week. Happy birthday to my sister
Ms. Teresa Haynes, her day is
Tuesday October 24. I wish many
more for each of you. I can’t forget

LIVINGSTON - The statistics

percent of all deaths and 39 percent
of all hospitalizations of people 60
years and older were caused by ad-
verse reactions to medications.

Mcds,” is similar to "Safeguard for
Seniors," but uses a computer
program instead of an interview
process.
The third program, "Substance
Abuse and Senior," will review an
education program for seniors on
drug and alcohol abuse.
Mark Stratton, professor with the
College of Pharmacology, Univer-
sity of Houston, will give a presen-
tation on how to prevent over-
medication and inappropriate-
medication of the elderly.
Free and open to the public, the
satellite program is sponsored by
the Texas Agricultural Extension
Service, the Texas Department of
Aging, the Texas Pharmacy Foun-
dation, the Texas Medical Founda-
tion, the Health Care Financing Ad-
ministration.
Thirty sites across Texas are
scheduled to receive the program
and make it available for public
viewing. The sites are located in
Abilene, Amarillo, Angleton, Aus-
tin, Beaumont, Brownwood, Bryan,
Corpus Christi, Dallas, Edna, Fort
Stockton, Ft. Worth, Houston,
Longview, Lubbock, Lufkin, Mid-
land, Overton, Prairie View, Rich-
mond, San Angelo, San Antonio,
Stcphcnville, Temple, Texarkana,
Tyler, Uvalde, Vernon, Waco, and
Weslaco. Tentative sites include El
Paso and Wichita Falls.
People wishing to register should
